What to Do When It’s Not Working

Calendars, schedules, vision boards, tools, and resources to accomplish tasks.

Calendar scheduled and mapped out, but it’s not working.

Vision boards with cut-outs, quotes, and motivation of hopes of things to come–but it’s not working.

Invest in the tools, download the resources, but it’s not working.

Even when it seems like it’s not working in the natural, God is STILL working!!

For the last three Saturdays, I’ve planned to get a lot of things accomplished. House chores, visiting family and friends, writing and further website development, and THIS HAIR were all on my to-do list. But, for the last three Saturdays, things did not go according to MY plan.

It seemed like my strategy was broken and I could not figure out why.

My plans were not sinful or self-serving, so why didn’t they work?

My plan was to carry out what I believed the Lord had already told me to do. So why didn’t it work?

The answer is: I don’t know the answer.

As I cried out to God for the umpteenth time, “It’s not working, God!” He reminded me of two very important truths:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

” And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 KJV

I find comfort in knowing that God’s plans reign supreme in my life. It would have been great to get everything done, but I realize that God is teaching me a lesson far bigger than me. His plans far surpass my schedule.

I can rest in knowing that even my unchecked to-do list will work toward His purpose, and that is just fine with me.

If you find yourself looking at a calendar, vision board, or to-do list full of unaccomplished tasks, take heart.

When it appears that it’s not working, know that God is STILL working.

Stay encouraged ya’ll!
